Overhead picture of a residential development After being delayed in March due to the Corona Virus pandemic, the Bonita Grande Mine RPD Zoning Ordinance received it’s first public hearing before council members at the June 3rd city council meeting. This new zoning ordinance would rezone 1342.60 acres ¾ mile north of east Terry Street and east of Bonita Grande Drive from industrial planned development and agricultural to residential development; allowing the land, which is current zoned for mining use, to be transitioned for residential development.

The ordinance will have its second reading public before City Council Zoning on June 17, 2020 in order to remain consistent with the Settlement Agreement and to afford due process in accordance with the land development code and state law.
