Bonita Springs to Open Park Trails

Bonita Nature TrailBecause of continued voluntary compliance and the community’s greater awareness for Centers for Disease Control guidelines, the city announced Wednesday limited re-openings of park trails.
Some Bonita Springs trails and parks will reopen Wednesday, April 22, with signage onsite to help encourage social distancing. Residents will now be able to use Cullum’s Trail, Bonita Nature Place and River Park for essential activities as defined in an April 1 executive order from Governor DeSantis. Essential activities include walking, hiking, running consistent with social-distancing guidelines.
This is part of the city’s phased-in approach for residents to be able to recreate outside of their neighborhoods while still observing the Governor’s Executive Order. Although the city is beginning to assess and reopen sites, it is imperative residents remain vigilant to continue to mitigate the spread of COVID-19.
Many city facilities remain closed, including Bonita Springs Recreation Center, playgrounds and community pool.
City leaders continue to monitor data and work with its partners Lee Health and the Florida Department of Health as it relates to a phased-in approach to re-opening sites.
