Wounded Warriors The City of Bonita Springs and the Veterans Advisory Committee invite the public to attend the Bonita Springs First Responders/Warriors Cup on Sunday, November 10, 2019, at the Veterans Memorial Field in the Bonita Springs Community Park at 7:00pm. The games take place at 26740 Pine Avenue Bonita Springs, FL. The Louisville Sluggers will play against The Bonita Springs First Responders, which include members from the Lee County Sheriff’s Office and Bonita Springs Fire Control and Rescue District.

Designated by the IRS as a 501 (c) (3) public charity organization and the only nationally sponsored amputee baseball team, the Louisville Slugger Warriors, are an extremely competitive amputee baseball team that consists of U.S. Military Veterans, Active Duty personnel, Wounded Warriors and current and former amputee college baseball players. All of these highly skilled athletes come from all walks of life. They have either suffered a loss of limb, partial limb, digits, eye, and serious limb deformities, plus have other prostheses all due to congenital, disease, or trauma-related reasons.

"The City of Bonita Springs and their Veterans Advisory Council are once again displaying an extreme amount of generosity and hospitality towards our team and we cannot thank them enough”, says David Van Sleet, the Louisville Slugger Warrior’s General Manager, “It is simply amazing the resources they pull together to make this event happen over Veterans Day Weekend”.

The Bonita Springs Little League will sell refreshments are their concession stand for the duration of the game. The American Legion will hold a 50/50 raffle and The Louisville Sluggers will sell their team’s apparel. Proceeds will go toward the Louisville Slugger Warriors Baseball/Softball Team. Bleacher seating is limited; the public is encouraged to bring lawn chairs. Lee County Sheriff’s Office will assist with the opening ceremonies by doing a flyover during the opening ceremonies.

Be careful, don’t ever judge a book by its’ cover. Louisville Slugger didn’t and embraced these unique baseball/softball players and team concept. Take it from L.S. Warriors National Amputee Baseball Team player Matt Kinsey, “I am very excited to be a part of this team! I hope we can be a source of inspiration to others who are dealing with challenges in their lives and show them that you really can do anything you set your mind to, even without being ‘normal’.”
