The City of Bonita Springs encourages residents to finalize hurricane plans. Residents can expect Hurricane/Tropical Storm/Storm Surge Watches early on October 7th. Residents should be preparing for the possibility of hurricane force winds. Residents who live in coastal areas and in flood prone areas should be considering evacuation plans. No need to wait, if you have plans to evacuate, please do so.

The city encourages residents living near the Imperial River and canals, to continue to monitor water levels. Please continue to be vigilant as sheet flow may impact water levels of rivers and canals. The level of the Imperial River is currently at 10.11ft. To check water levels, click here.

Hurricane Milton is forecast to bring wind, life-threatening storm surge and localized flooding to Lee County later this week. Residents need to:

    • Revisit their family emergency plan.
    • Check their emergency supply kits.
    • Secure objects around homes.
    • Monitor local meteorologist reports.
    • Sign up for AlertLee.
    • Monitor www.leegov.com/storm and Lee County social media channels.

Lee County anticipates announcing at noon Monday, Oct. 7, information about evacuation orders and shelter openings, as well as LeeTran service to those shelters.

Residents who live in coastal areas or flood-prone inland areas do not need to wait for evacuation orders to mobilize. Go to friend or family members’ homes or make arrangements to relocate inland.

Residents can view the announcements on local media as well as via Facebook Live, available at www.facebook.com/leecountyflbocc. It can also be viewed on LeeTV and on the Lee County Government YouTube channel.

Residents can also call the United Way’s Emergency Information Hotline with questions. Dial 2-1-1 or 239-433-3900.

Residents are reminded to check www.leegov.com/storm to see which shelters open and when. The EOC is activated at a Level 2 and will move to a full activation at 7 a.m. Monday, Oct. 7.
