The focus of the Quinn/Downs/Dean West of Imperial Parkway Infrastructure Project is
to provide much needed stormwater infrastructure improvements in the neighborhood. The City is using
federal U.S. Housing and Urban Development, Community Development Block Grant-Mitigation (HUD
CDBG-MIT) funds to acquire parcels for stormwater retention ponds and improvements.
During project development of the stormwater improvements, staff and the engineering consultant
identified the potential location for two (2) retention ponds at the eastern end of Dean Street. Staff
approached Lee County as the owners of vacant property located at 11750 Dean Street, 27851 Edith Lane
and 27961 Quinn Street to gauge the County’s interest to transfer these parcels to the City for pond
development.
The County Commissioners approved the land transfer on July 29, 2023. Accepting the land will provide
the needed property to fully develop the eastern retention ponds that will reduce the flooding impacts in
the neighborhood.
