Attached is the proposed Interlocal Agreement with Lee County for implementation of Lee County’s Hazardous Waste Ordinance (Ord 07-03), which provides the authority to regulate businesses for generation and management of hazardous waste, used oils and other regulated wastes. Under Florida Statute 403.7225, the program already does work within City limits because the main directive of the program is to educate businesses on how to manage and dispose/recycle their regulated waste within compliance. The attached Interlocal Agreement further allows for public outreach, inspections, compliance assistance, and enforcement by the County within the City. There are no associated costs to the City for this Interlocal Agreement as the program is funded through a portion of the fees collected for Lee County Business Tax Licensing each year.
