Council has approved the city’s 2021-22 5YR Capital Improvement Program Ordinance. Florida Statutes §163.3177(3) (a) requires that local government comprehensive plans contain a capital improvements element designed to consider the need for and the location of public facilities. There is also the requirement that local governments review the capital improvements element on an annual basis.
The term “capital improvement” generally refers to physical assets constructed or purchased to provide, improve, or replace a public facility, typically large scale, high in cost, and may require multi-year financing.
The 2021-2022 fiscal year budget, which includes funding for these projects, was adopted by City Council at the budget hearing on September 29, 2021.
