The city has been awarded an LWCF grant for the completion of a new skatepark and pump track. The FDEP announced the availability of FY 2019-2020 Federal Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) on a competitive basis on January 13, 2020. LWCF is a competitive grant program that provides financial assistance to local governmental entities for the development or acquisition of land for public outdoor recreational purposes. The City submitted the application for the skate park and pump track on January 31, 2020.
The City received notice of project award on May 4, 2021 for $279,849. The LWCF grant requires a 1:1 match and the City has allocated the match in the Parks and Recreation budget in anticipation of the award. The agreement outlines a two (2)-year construction period to install the improvements at the Skate Park and Pump Track located at the City’s Recreation Center.
