The Tree Advisory Board has created a new program inviting the public to nominate a Tree of the Season designation for a remarkable tree. The first Tree of Season award is being presented to Mr. Mike Kirby for his 25’ tall Paradise tree, a native subtropical tree. This 7-year-old tree exemplifies “right tree, right place” practices as it is an appropriate distance from the home, while still providing shade to the home and beauty to the property. It also serves as shelter for birds, a host to bees that pollinate it, and a food source for the fruits it produces.
